ILGC Teams in Pennant

ILGC had 2 Pennant teams in 2021 - in Division 2 and 6.

Anne Brookes is Pennant Manager for 2021.

Both Teams were in the finals played on

26th April at Northern Golf Course.

Ivanhoe 2, ably led by Kirsty Page, brought the Division 6 flag home.

Debbie Biggs, Lou Cameron, Chris Beet and Mandy Nesbitt all won their matches to defeat Burnley 4 - 1.

A resounding victory! The matches were played in good spirit and we are very proud of and happy for all the girls. Special mention also to Lorraine Robson who played a match during the season. The team combined very well, represented our club with pride and we congratulate you.

Not a bad start to Pennant life for some of our newcomers!

Ivanhoe 1 were soundly beaten on the day, with Mary Jones being our only team member to win her match.

Although we were excited to play in the final, we were aware we had our work cut our for us today with our opponents, Lakeside Ladies, going through the season undefeated. Although our fears were realised we all gave our best.

Many thanks to Thelma, Annette, Katina, and Sue Harris (who brought our winner Mary in) for giving up their Monday to caddy and support us on the day.

It has been a successful and enjoyable Pennant season for all involved. I am proud and grateful, as Pennant manager, that our club supports two teams financially to play, and am very proud of the way our players have represented our club.

Until next year!

Playing Pennant?  Some of the things you may want to know!

Pennant Golf is an inter-Club competition that involves Public Golf Courses in Victoria, with approximately

40 Clubs participating.  Pennant provides good opportunities to improve your game, get to know your fellow Club members, meet other golfers and play at a variety of venues.

ILGC will be fielding at least two teams in 2019. Five players comprise a team. Games are Match Play, with three matches played at home and three away; plus the Final for those teams that top their division.

ILGC covers the cost of lunch when playing a home fixture and also green fees when playing away.

Members pay their own green fees for home matches.

Team members are required to wear their Club uniform to all external events and to familiarise themselves with the rules of Match Play.

Note: Handicaps are capped at 39; players with higher handicaps may still play but will play off the handicap limit for the grade.
